VIDEO Production Rig
(ViPR)
Summary:
ShadowCast Studio's Video Production Rig (ViPR) is the backbone of our video production department. The ViPR allows us to take various pieces of equipment and combine them into one system. Equipment used with the ViPR system is shown with red titles under the Additional Imaging Assets section further down.
The ViPR provides extra stability giving us much smoother shots. It may look heavy, but it really isn't. The ViPR is built to enhance stabilization and mobility. The operator can be equipped with a load-bearing vest to further reduce the effort required to carry it around. While the ViPR is lightweight, holding it up continuously can cause fatigue over time. The vest takes the bulk of the ViPR's weight off of the operator's arms. This virtually eliminates fatigue, and ensures a smooth, steady shot, even in the later hours of a production.
Staying mobile is very important when covering live events, such as weddings. You can't afford to miss a single shot because there are no retakes. When we are setup shop in a single area, the ViPR easily mounts on a tripod just like a regular camera. Attachments are added or removed as needed to suit the circumstances. The ViPR is a very versatile piece of equipment and is just as essential to our productions as the camera itself. We'll update the pictures whenever we add something new to the ViPR.
